La Cinémathèque française

  The Cinematheque was created by Henri Langlois. An important center of the "seventh art" of filmmaking, the Cinematheque inspired several famous French fimmakers such as Fran‡ois Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard. There is also a large film library (the biggest in the world!). The two screening rooms here often show restrospectives on different specific themes.

  This museum chronologically traces the evolution of French mural painting from the 10th to the 16th century. But the French Monument Museum also has sculptures of grand cathedral doors and casts of famous and important statues.

  In the heart of the Chaillot Palace, the Cinema Museum (opened in 1972) displays the history of the movies, from the very beginning up until the modern day. Its varied exhibits include equipment, props, posters, sets, and many other items.

  True to its art, the Wine Museum could only be located in the heart of an old wine cellar; it was once the wine cellar of a monastery. Many objects related to the process of winemaking are on display here, and a wine tasting is offered with the tour.

  This 18th century house was once the home of the author of The Human Comedy. On display are some of Balzac's personal belongings, period furnishings, and many literary mementos (original editions, manuscripts, etc).

  The Counterfeit Museum is one of the most original museums in Paris. Forgeries in a wide range of areas are here on display: foods, perfumes, cars... Beside the originals, for comparison!

  This museum is the private collection of Adolphe Ennery, a 19th century playwright. With more than 7,000 pieces of Chinese and Japanese art, it is a pure wonder.

  With a base of more than 70,000 pieces, the Fashion and Clothing museum is a real fashion show. From luxurious outfits from the 18th century to the great modern day designers, the collection is very rich and full. Also present are accessories of all kinds: parasols, jewelry, hats, and so on.

  Opened in 1961, the Museum of Modern Art has an important collection of works by artists such as Georges Roualt, Robert and Sonia Delaunay, and Raoul Dufy. The museum's many temporary exhibitions are also worthy of note.
